Below is a list of helpful sites to get started in creating your site. They contain anything from the basics of HTML and CSS to more advance stuff such as server scripting and some tools to aid you in the process. I tried not to include everything but instead the best sites I frequent for each subject.

- World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) -- The W3C develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential.
- Accessibility Techniques & Concepts from WebAIM -- Specific Techniques for making your site accessible.
- Evaluating Web Site Accessibility from WebAIM -- This 7-step process will help you in evaluating the level of accessibility of a Web site using a variety of easy-to-use tools and methods.
- Section 508 Checklist from WebAIM -- Use this checklist to make sure your site is Section 508 compliant.
- Web Standards Checklist from Max Design -- A site built to web standards should adhere to standards (HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, XSLT, DOM, MathML, SVG etc) and pursue best practices (valid code, accessible code, semantically correct code, user-friendly URLs etc).

- Color Schemer Online -- Enter an RGB or HEX value to get a set of matching colors. You can even lighten and darken your scheme or pick colors from a websafe palette!
- WellStyled: Color Scheme Generator 2 -- Generator of color schemes and palettes to create good-looking and well balanced and harmonic web pages.
- Vischeck -- Vischeck is a way of showing you what things look like to someone who is color blind.

Validation
- W3C MarkUp Validation Service -- a free service that checks documents like HTML and XHTML for conformance to W3C Recommendations and other standards.
- W3C CSS Validation Service -- a free service that checks your style sheets for conformance to W3C Recommendations and other standards.
- W3C Link Checker -- Check the validity of the links on your site.
- WAVE 3.0 Accessibility Tool -- online tool that provides visual feedback to Web developers by inserting informative icons into the page at appropriate locations.
- Bobby -- this free service will allow you to test web pages and help expose and repair barriers to accessibility and encourage compliance with existing accessibility guidelines, such as Section 508 and the W3C's WCAG.
- HTML Tidy -- a free utility to fix HTML mistakes automatically and tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup. See also Tidy Online.

Firefox Extensions
- Get Firefox -- download and install a safer browser to take advantage of the web developer extensions below.
- Web Development with Firefox -- The slide show is a basic overview of Firefox’s built-in web development tools, as well as some useful web developer extensions that are available.
- Web Developer Toolbar -- adds a menu and a toolbar to the browser with various web developer tools such as CSS editing and validation.
- HTML Validator (based on Tidy) -- adds HTML validation inside Firefox and Mozilla. The number of errors of a HTML page is seen on the form of an icon in the status bar when browsing. The details of the errors are seen when looking the HTML source of the page.
- LinkChecker -- check webpage broken links at a glance with simple color coding.
- Fangs Screen Reader Emulator -- creates a textual representation of a web page similar to how the page would be read by a modern screen reader.
- ColorZilla -- Advanced Eyedropper, ColorPicker, Page Zoomer and other colorful goodies.
- MeasureIt -- Draw a ruler across any webpage to check the width, height, or alignment of page elements in pixels.
- ieview -- Adds "View this page in IE" links to the content and link context menu. Handy for previewing pages in IE, loading up IE-only pages when you run across them in Mozilla, etc.
